Starring Christy Chung Lai-Tai, Jandara is a beautiful film based on a novel by Thai journalist, Pramoon Unhathoop. The film is directed by one of Thailand’s most interesting directors, Nonzi Nimibutr and centres on the life of a Jan, the son who struggles against a cruel father. Set in Thaialnd in the 1930’s, it is as much a film about Thai cultural attitudes to sexuality as much as it is a depiction of the characters themselves.
